• The Inaugural Chris Newsom Memorial Day Tournament for high school summer teams and 15-to-18-year-old summer teams is set May 24-27 and May 31-June 3 at Christian Academy of Knoxville High School. Format is four-game round-robin. Entry fee is $350. For more information, call 865-603-5368.

• Farragut High School Baseball Camp runs 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, June 4, to Thursday, June 7, FHS’s at John Heatherly Field. Registration is from 8:15 to 9 a.m. June 4. Cost is $70 per camper —$60 if more than one from a family. Instruction by FHS coaches and players. A glove is required — bringing a bat is optional. • Tryouts for Farragut High School freshman baseball begin at 6 p.m., June 6-7 at FHS’s John Heatherly Field. For more info, contact varsity head coach Tommy Pharr at 865-384-8831.

• Town of Farragut is now accepting registrations for summer sand volleyball leagues at Mayor Bob Leonard Park, 301 Watt Road. It will include a Competitive Coed League and a Recreational Coed League, with teams consisting of four to six players, and an Open Competitive League, with teams consisting of four players. Each coed team must play with at least two women on the court at all times. Open Competitive League teams may be all men, all women or any mix of the two. The leagues include six regular season matches and a single elimination post-season tournament. If make-up matches are needed due to inclement weather, they may be played Wednesday evenings. Deadline to register and pay is 5 p.m., Thursday, May 24. Competitive Coed League play: Mondays, June 4 through July; Recreational Coed League play: Tuesdays, June 5 through July; Open Competitive League play: Thursdays, June 7 through July. Cost is $110 per team for the recreational league and $135 per team for competitive leagues. Payment must be received at the time of registration. Registration forms are available at Farragut Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive across from the Farragut Branch Post Office, on the Town’s Web site at www.townoffarragut.org or by calling Sue Stuhl at 865-966-7057.

• Doug Mooney, CBFO representative, recently awarded eight seniors from Farragut High School a $1,000 scholarship from the Optimist Club. FHS seniors receiving the scholarship were Thomas Fraser, Jeremiah Walker, Kathryn Machiela, Chris Pemberton, Lindsey West, Lindsey Wilkerson, Courtney Kubeja and Jaresa Turner. Mooney also presented Eva Peters with a certificate for her efforts in making the scholarships possible.

• Concord Park golf course is offering junior golfers a way to get involved with golf in a team format. With team golf, you get to practice and play one day each week. Teams will be formed with no more than five players per team. Adults needed as volunteer team leaders. Sign ups run through May 31. Golfers will be placed on a team and contacted by your team leader by June 4. Practices begin Monday, June 11, and the first match will be Thursday, June 14. Practice and play will continue every Tuesday and Thursday for 8 weeks. Cost is $85 and includes all weekly fees and awards at the end of the season. • Summer Golf Camp at Concord Park Golf Course for ages 6 to 8 runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily June 4-8. Cost is $75 per child. Instructor is Keith McElroy, PGA professional. To register your child, contact McElroy at 865-966-9103.

• Beginner Instructional golf clinics at Concord Park for ages 8 to 17 include a new skill taught each week along with one of The FirstTee 9-Core Values. Games and practice techniques are used to make the learning process fun and easy to follow. Fee is $5 per week. (Each session limited to 20 students). Sessions run from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturdays June 2, 9, 23, 30; July 7, 14 (No clinics June 16); 6 to 6:45 p.m., Mondays June 4, 11, 18, 25 / July 9, 16 (no clinics July 2). Clinics for juniors ages 5-7 include basic instruction in a clinic format, parental involvement and supervision. Fee is $5 per week. Clinic is from 10:15 to 11 a.m., Saturdays June 2, 9, 23, 30 (no clinic June 16). Limited to 12 students. To sign-up, call 865-966-9103.

• An Open Car & Truck Show in Blount County is set from 10 a.m to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at the Parkway Drive-In Theatre, 2909 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville. Registration fee is $20, with registration from 10 a.m. to noon. Trophies go to top-10 finishers, with dash plaques given to first 100 entries.
