Edible Arrangements creates tasty treats for the community

Linda and Robert Brown have been able to enjoy the fruit of their labor.

The husband and wife team are owners of Edible Arrangem-ents, a fresh fruit bouquet company at 9307 D Kingston Pike in Knoxville.

Linda said she primarily runs the store and her husband helps when not working his full-time job.

Edible Arrangements specializes in creating delicious fruit designs filled with fresh strawberries, pineapple, grapes, ora-nges, cantaloupe and honeydew, she said. Arrangements are guaranteed fresh and are available in a variety of styles and sizes.

“On some of them we can do a chocolate upgrade and do something like dip half of the pineapple daisies in chocolate,” she said. “We can even do a box of just pineapple daisies with half of each one dipped in chocolate and the other half in coconut.”

Linda said the freshness of the bouquets is one of the keys to the business’ continuing

success.

“Everything is made from scratch here,” she said. “We cut the fruit ourselves. I order fruit from vendors wherever the fruit is freshest.”

The company will deliver the fragrant fruit bouquets within Knox County as well as portions of Blount and Loudon counties.

“We’ve had customer requests from Sevier County, but we don’t deliver out there,” she said.

Linda said one of the niche market needs her company reaches is for those people who have difficulty deciding on some type of gift for men.

“So many people don’t know what to get men,” she said. “This is an alternative.”

Linda said they opened their doors a little more than two years ago and the business continues to thrive.

“Our customers are really great to work with,” she said. “We’ve thought about expanding, but don’t have any real plans right now. If we do, it might be something like a satellite store in Blount County.”

Linda, a Connecticut native, said she learned about Edible Arrangements through a friend who still lives in her home state.

“She called and told me about Edible Arrangements, which is also based in Connecticut,” Linda said.

The Edible Arrangements concept was launched in Connecticut in 1999, she said. The company began franchising in 2001 in Massachusetts with additional stores quickly following in Connecticut, Georgia and New Jersey.

Edible Arrangements is currently growing internationally, with stores throughout United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and United Kingdom and other portions of the world.
