Farragut Board fills Committee seats

The Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen appointed and re-appointed members to the various town committees during the regular FBMA meeting Thurs-day, May 24.

Ford re-appointed Robert “Bob” Hill, Robert “Bob” Edlund, Connie Rutenber and Carol Evans to the Farragut Municipal Planning Commission. He cited their experience as a benefit to the FMPC.

Leisure Services director Sue Stuhl described the positions to members of the Board and said all positions would become effective July 1, with the exception of the museum gift shop manager position, which became effective immediately.

Farragut Arts Council members Mary Agnes Schaefer and Carlyle Urello were reappointed to two-year terms.

The Board voted 3-2 in favor of Denise Dorsey as a new member of the Farragut Board of Plumbing and Gas/Mechanical Examiners. Board members Dorothy “Dot” LaMarche, John Williams and Tom Rosseel voted in favor of Dorsey with Mayor W. Edward “Eddy” Ford III and Vice Mayor Mike Haynes voting against.

Prior to the vote, Stuhl told the Board incumbent plumbing Board members Ronald Jones and Gene Larson were interested in reappointment, but Larson was willing to give up his seat on the committee if another person was interested.

Cleve Porter was reappointed to a five-year term on the Board of Zoning Appeals. Board members reappointed Clare Ansink, Gerry Gennoe, Kathy Pierre, Rosaline Slater, Mabel Sumner and JoAnne Walsh to the Farragut Decorating Committee for two-year terms.

Doris Owens was reappointed museum director with Donna Hawn being reappointed as museum gift shop manager.

Farragut Museum Committee members Owens, Anne Balitsaris, Linda Ford, Libbie Haynes and Bob Linsell were all reappointed for two-year terms.

Donna Hawn had sought a chance to volunteer her services on this committee, but did not receive an opportunity.

Charles Benziger and Loretta Bradley were reappointed to the Parks and Athletics Council along with appointments of Jeff Elliott and Thomas Martens. Martens and Elliott replace Dolly Karnitz and Sam Lee who both opted not to seek


Board members re-appointed Gary Schmitz, John Underwood and Regina Foy to two-year terms on the Personnel Committee.

Visual Resources Review Board members Terri Leland, Bob Markli, Ron Rochelle and Linda Johnson were all reappointed for two year terms and Marty Layman was appointed to fill in a position for one unexpired term.

The Board filled two of three seats on the Stormwater Advisory Council with the reappointment of Hill and James Loar. One seat on the council is still open.
