• West Knox County will host the American Youth Soccer Organization Section 5 Games Friday, June 15, through Sunday, June 17. Teams from Tennessee and three other states (Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina) will bring approximately 1,500 players ages 8 to 18. Games will be held at Ball Camp, U.S. Cellular and Pellissippi State AYSO fields. For more information, including specific game times, visit:

• Farragut Lady Admirals basketball players and parents will hold a yard sale and free car wash in front of FHS’s Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 16. Cars and trucks will be washed by current Lady Admirals players for donations, and tons of items will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the team.

• USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2006-2007 Academic All-Conference team, and 2006 Farragut High School graduate and MC freshman Nick Moore in among 16 Scots honored. A student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average in each of the two semesters in a given year to be eligible.

• TTA East Tennessee Chapter hikes continue June 16 at Charlie's Bunion, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with a eight-mile hike roundtrip from Newfound Gap parking area to Charlie’s Bunion and back. This hike boasts spectacular views but parts will be steep and a bit rocky. Plan to meet at the Newfound Gap parking area at 9 a.m. Parking area is located midway between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, N.C. off Newfound Gap Road (US 441). Please bring water and lunch. A June 30 hike at Laurel-Snow Pocket Wilderness will follow an old railroad bed about 1.5 miles until beginning the climb to cross Laurel Creek and then onto the fork. The left fork leads to Snow Falls with a 850-foot climb up an escarpment. A short sidetrip will lead to Buzzard's Roost for a spectacular Tennessee Valley view. The hike proceeds to Snow Falls and crosses Morgan Creek. The hike is approximately seven miles round-trip (rated moderate). Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Eckerd's in Dayton off Highway 27. • Farragut High School softball tryouts for the 2008 season will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, July 23-25. Girls interested in trying out need to be in proper softball attire when arriving. For more information, contact FHS head coach David Moore at 865-947-5720.

• Farragut High School Lady Admirals Summer Volleyball Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., June 18-22, in Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium at FHS. It is open to girls who will enter grades 4 through 8 during the 2007-08 school year. Cost is $100. Registration forms can be picked up at Pak-Mail.
