The Cove drowning victim found


The body of Pedro Martinez, 21, 9102 Woodpark Lane, was found in Fort Loudoun Lake at The Cove less than two days after informing friends he going swimming Tuesday evening, June 19.

Not showing up for work Wednesday, June 20, Martinez’s body was found just after 9 a.m., Thursday, June 21, “near the channel and away from the swimming area, which is roped off,” according to Martha Dooley, Knox County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. “Alarmed” supervisors and co-workers first went to The Cove early Wednesday “and found his car and some of his personal belongings,” Dooley said. KCSO’s Dive Team joined Knox County Rescue Squad in the search beginning early Wednesday afternoon until about 10 p.m. Shown pictured are divers approaching the shoreline after a failed attempt to locate the body Wednesday, evening, June 20. “Our detectives do not suspect foul play,” Dooley said.
