Burchett garners recognition

NASHVILLE – Sen. Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) has been named Legislator of the Year by the Tennessee Community Organizations. He received the award at the Annual TNCO Awards Luncheon Wednesday, June 20.

“On behalf of TN-CO and the more than ten-thousand people served by its member agencies, thank you for all that you have done for people with intellectual disabilities this year,” stated Robin L. Atwood, executive director of TNCO, in a letter to Burchett.

TNCO assists community organizations across Tennessee providing quality services to people with disabilities. TNCO also has an affiliated education organization, TNCO ACTS, that works to “provide education to the people who work for Tennessee’s community provider organizations.”

“It is an honor and a privilege to receive a ‘Legislator of the Year’ award from such an outstanding organization as TN-CO,” Burchett said. “I look forward to working with TN-CO in the future to continue to better the lives of Tennesseans with disabilities.”

Currently serving his third term in the state Senate, Burchett is deputy speaker. He serves on the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee; the Senate Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Committee and the Senate State and Local Government Committee.
