• National Conference of CPA Practitioners has awarded a $1,000 merit-based scholarship to Jeffrey Pudelek, a recent graduate of Farragut High School. Jeffrey is one of 12 students selected for the award, and he will attend The University of Tennessee next fall, where he has been accepted into the Chancellor’s Honors Program. He plans to major in accounting with a concentration in finance.

• Katie Ellis of Knoxville qualified for the spring 2007 Dean’s List at Belmont University, Nashville. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a “C.” Katie, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Ellis and the granddaughter of Retta Ellis, all of Knoxville, is majoring in music with a minor in business.

• Matthew G. Jacobssen, son of Guy and Christine Jacobssen of Dunwoody Boulevard, received the Bachelor of Arts degree at the commencement of Kenyon College, Ohio, Saturday, May 20. Matthew graduated with a major in English.

• EnergySolutions Foundation announced seven scholarship recipients at a luncheon Friday, June 8, at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce. Cara Turski of Farragut High School and Lily Hoang of Bearden High School were among the recipients. Turski has a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. She is enrolled in honors classes including Honors Chemistry and Honors English. She is involved with Girl Scouts, Student Government, National Honor’s Society, Math Honor’s Society and is on the Farragut High School Climbing Team. Hoang also has a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She is enrolled in honors classes including Honors Chemistry and Honors Algebra 2. She is involved with Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Key Club, 4-H and rock climbing. • Katie Phillips was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in communication with a public relations emphasis from Lipscomb University. Phillips, of 12128 North Fox Den Drive, was one of only 10 graduates to earn a 4.0 grade point average at the May 5 ceremony. She was placed on the Provost’s List for the spring semester, an honor reserved for students who make perfect grades for the semester while taking at least 12 credit hours.

• Pellissippi State Technical Community College has named 605 top students to the spring 2007 semester dean’s list.
