Travis, Mack to wed this Saturday
Jim and Cheryl Travis of Knoxville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lauren Brooke Travis, to John “Trey” Walter Mack III, son of John and Diane Mack of Knoxville.

She is the granddaughter of Betty Travis of Nashville, the late Jim Travis Sr., William Fisher of Nashville and the late Deloris Fisher. He is the grandson of Bobbie Phillips of Knoxville, the late Raymond Phillips, Lois Mack of Clemson, S.C., and the late John Mack Sr.

The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Farragut High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies from The University of Tennessee in 2006. The groom-elect, a 2002 graduate of Farragut High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from The Citadel Military College of South Carolina in 2007.

The wedding ceremony will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Graystone Presbyterian Church. Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Knoxville.

Ford, Nguyen to wed this month
Sarah Ford of Knoxville and the late C. Lee Ford Jr. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Erin Nicole Ford, to Ian Nguyen, son of Toan and Hien Nguyen of Glen Ellen, Va.

She is the granddaughter of Ruth C. Richards and Pauline Ford of Knoxville and the late Claude Ford Sr. He is the grandson of the late Ninh Van and Ban Thi Nguyen and the late Du Van Pham and Xieng Thi Tran.

The bride-elect is a 1995 graduate of Farragut High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from The University of Tennessee in 1999 and a Master of Science degree in library and information sciences from the University of South Carolina in 2003.

The groom-elect, a 1992 graduate of Henrico High School of Richmond, Va., earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996.

The wedding ceremony will be Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at St. Francis United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N.C.

Following a honeymoon to Atlanta, Ga., and Destin, Fla., the couple will reside in Charlotte.


Lyle, Richter wed last year in Pennsylvania
Cynthia Elizabeth Lyle and Glenn Freeman Richter joined in Holy Matrimony during a June 24, 2006 ceremony at Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort in Somerset, Pa. The Rev. Wil Nicholson officiated.

The bride’s parents are Jim and Nancy Lyle of McMurray, Pa., formerly of Farragut. She is the granddaughter of the late Fred and Margaret Hoffmann and the late William and Mathilda Lyle.

She is a 1999 graduate of Farragut High School and graduated cum laude with a degree in English from Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, Pa., in 2006.

The groom’s parents are Ray and Linda Richter of Normalville, Pa. He is the grandson of Wilma Richter of Normalville, the late Charles Richter, Beatrice Hissem of Normalville and the late Jay Hissem.

He is a 1997 graduate of Connellsville High School in Connellsville, Pa. He completed an apprenticeship with the Operating Engineers and is an operator and mechanic for Local 66.

Matron of Honor was Suzie Sodini of Bethel Park, Pa. Maid of Honor was Catherine Webb of Blacksburg, Va. Best Man was Gary Kimmel of Champion, Pa.

The bride’s wedding party members were Heather Lyle of Upper St. Clair, Pa.; Sara Moore Arnold of Glasgow, Scotland; Jessica Kone of South Beach, Fla., and Maria and Anna Lyle of McMurray. The groom’s wedding party members were Jim Lyle Jr. of Upper St. Clair, David Lyle of McMurray and Steven Sodini of Bethel Park.

Theresa Lyle of McMurray was flower girl, and Andrew Lyle of McMurray and Alex Sodini of Bethel Park served as ring bearers.


Perrys renew their vows
Bill and Virginia Perry were among 13 couples who renewed their vows as part of a 50-year celebration at The Church of the Ascension June 23.

The couple has lived in Village Green for 35 years. Bill is retired from TVA and works as the conductor on the 3 Rivers Rambler, Knoxville’s steam engine and train, weekends during spring and summer months. Virginia is a pediatric nurse practitioner and works at the birthing center at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

Bill and Virginia were married March 1, 1962 in Georgia, but both had always wanted to say their vows in the church, which they have attended for 40 years. The couple has three children: William L. Perry III and his wife, Natasha; Laura Anne Smith and her husband, Doug, and James John Perry and his wife, Janice. They have five grandsons and are expecting their sixth grandson.
