Spartans state runner-up, fall to rival GCA

NASHVILLE — The fifth time wasn’t a charm for Webb School of Knoxville boys basketball.

Though leading Division II-A rival Grace Christian Academy by four points, 34-30, heading into the final eight minutes of this state title game at Lipscomb University Saturday afternoon, March 3, the Spartans fell 46-44.

Webb finishes with a 29-6 record — going 2-3 in five combined regular season and postseason games against the Rams.

Spartan Chase Ridenour led his team in scoring with 14, adding four rebounds, followed by Myles Rasnick with 11 points and a team-leading three assists.

Tariq Daughton added seven points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

Charlie Wyrick scored six points for Webb and blocked two shots.

Emory Lanier and Hunter Green each added three points. Lanier pulled down six rebounds.

Grace Christian, led by guard Grant Ledford’s game-high 18 points, finishes the season 27-7.
