Three former Bearden High School swim/dive athletes competed for their college teams in the North Coast Athletic Conference championships in March ó and for some its was the precursor to the national swimming and diving championships.

Seniors Matt Jacobssen (BHS Class of 2003, Kenyon College, Ohio 2007 graduate) and Cody Nicely (BHS Class of 2003, Wittenberg University, Ohio, 2007 grad) ended successful careers.

Jacobssen, a 6-time NCAA All American and 11-time All-conference, led Kenyon to an unprecedented 28th NCAA Division III National Championship as team captain. He competed in the NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships, his third such appearance.

Nicely, as swim and dive team captain, gained All-conference honors three times at Wittenberg and set three different school diving records.
