• With summer winding down, it’s time to start planning for the Annual Fall 5K Run and Pet Walk. The race will begin at 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. This event is sanctioned by USATF, will be managed by the Knoxville Track Club. • Town of Farragut and Putt-Putt Golf & Games of Farragut will offer a dose of free fun at the 16th annual Free Day of Putt-Putt Monday, Sept. 17. Players can enjoy putt-putt at no charge from noon to 9 p.m. The event is designed to build community among Farragut residents and to provide a safe, entertaining activity for families. • Improve your linear/lateral speed and vertical explosion during Pre-Season Basketball conditioning clinics: Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 10 to Oct. 17. Times are 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Farragut Middle School and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Farragut High School; a Vertical Leap Clinic, designed to work on vertical explosion for any sport, will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 11 to Oct. 18, for grades 9-12 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.; an Offensive Skills Clinic will help you create a better shot and footwork: Sundays in September beginning Sept. 9, and each Sunday in October, for middle school girls (1:30-2:30 p.m.), middle school boys (2:30-3:30), high school girls (3:30-4:30) and high school boys (4:30-5:30). • Knoxville Lacrosse Fall Registration is Friday, Sept. 14th begins at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, behind Farragut Middle School for boys in grades 4 through 8. Cost is $50 per player for the season, which runs Sept. 17 to Oct. 31. Practices are held at Anchor Park. Signed waiver and U.S. Lacrosse membership required. • The Episcopal School of Knoxville will host its Second Annual ES “5” K Run and Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 13. The 5K run and one-mile fun run will begin at 9 a.m. at the Cove Subdivision directly behind Pinnacle 18 Regal Cinemas in Turkey Creek. Registrations are now being accepted for the run, which costs $20 in advance. To register, pick up forms at either location of the Runner’s Market or New Balance athletic stores or at the school. • Body Recall, a physical fitness and education program of gentle exercise and movement developed to improve muscle tone, flexibility and strength, has a class meeting three days a week: from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday/Wednesday/Friday, for 10 weeks (30 sessions) starting Sept. 10 thru Nov. 12 at Faith Lutheran Church, 239 Jamestowne Blvd., Farragut. • Join Farragut Family YMCA Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road for the Third Annual YMCA “Can You Dig It?” Volleyball Tournament. It is 6-on-6 coed play that requires two females on the court at all times. All participants must be 16 years old to participate. Space is limited to the first 16 teams that register. Teams may participate either in the recreation or competitive division. Teams that register prior to Sept. 17 contribute $150; otherwise it will be $200 per team. • Tee it up for the 19th Annual Town of Farragut Golf Tournament, Friday, Oct. 2, at The Landmark at Avalon Golf Club, Lenoir City, two miles west of Farragut off Highway 70 West. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., with shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Registration cost is $65 per player, which includes green fees, golf cart, lunch and entry in prize drawings.
