Volleyball Ads beat Irish again; fall to AC

Farragut closed strong last week against a quality west side rival after a tough loss at Anderson County to begin the week Tuesday, Aug. 28.

The Lady Ads (12-3 record entering this week) swept Knoxville Catholic 25-23, 25-14, 25-17 at KCHS Thursday, Aug. 30.

Individually, “I thought in the Catholic match, we probably played as consistent as any time all year,” FHS head coach David Moore said. “Diana Deer served 11 straight points to start the second game against Catholic after winning that first really close game, and I thought that was a key.”

Standout outside hitter Amanda Mitchell, a senior, had nine blocks, while junior Natalia Hayes added four blocks and four kills. About Hayes, “I thought she was a big contributor for us,” Moore said.

“I thought Marian Curtner had a real good week,” Moore added about his senior right side hitter.
