FHS volleyball wins 6 matches

David Moore focused on one match that keyed a successful showing for his Farragut Volleyball team during the 20th Annual Choo-Choo Classic in Chattanooga Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8.

The match was against Baylor in pool play. And the head coach focused on one player who helped FHS win two games to one, and eventually finish tourney play with a 6-2 match record.

“I thought Amber [Pyle] stepped up big-time, she was a key in the Baylor win, which kinda turned the weekend around,” said Moore, whose Lady Ads entered the week with a 20-5 record. “That was just a good match.

“Amanda [Mitchell] and Kylann [Scheidt] had good weekends,” Moore added.

Among a 32-team field, Farragut also beat Walker Valley, Cleveland, Hixson and Red Bank in pre-tournament Choo-Choo games that included pool play.

And for the third time this season, Farragut squared off against Knoxville Catholic, this time in the round of 16, beating the shorthanded Lady Irish 25-13, 25-21.

Morristown East beat FHS in the quarterfinals 25-22, 15-25, 15-9. The Lady Ads also lost to Father Ryan in pool play 2-0.
