Make it 75 straight 4-AAA regular season wins for FHS

Make it 75 straight regular season District 4-AAA volleyball victories for Farragut High School — five years of district perfection.

David Moore’s Lady Admirals capped off yet another perfect 4-AAA regular season championship run (14-0) with straight game match victories against South-Doyle and Sevier County Sept. 25, at Bearden, then doing the same two days later against Bearden and William Blount in FHS’s Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium Thursday, Sept. 27.

“That’s pretty incredible, especially since our district’s pretty tough, really,” coach Moore said of the five-year streak.

“I would have thought going in a lot of people would have thought this would have been a rebuilding year for us,” Moore added. “But I knew we had some good players that could step in for the ones that we lost. And they have, they’ve stepped in and done a great job.

“It’s been a total team effort. Right now we just have 10 kids dressing for varsity and all 10 of them are making contributions.”

Completing the final three games of the regular season this week, Farragut entered the week with a 39-8 overall record.

District tournament action at Bearden begins Tuesday, Oct. 9, through Wednesday, Oct. 10. Region 2-AAA Tournament play involving the top two teams from 4-AAA and District 3-AAA is Tuesday, Oct. 16 followed by Sectionals (Region 2-AAA champ hosts Region 1-AAA runner-up and 2-AAA runner-up travels to 1-AAA champ) Thursday, Oct. 18.
