Ulrich’s ankle injury has Lindsay concerned

Just when Farragut was rolling along in girls soccer with a No. 4 state ranking, the injury bug hits hard.

And this one could be devastating, according Lady Admirals head coach Dennis Lindsay.

All-state senior forward Casey Ulrich, the team’s leading scorer the past two seasons, suffered an ankle injury during Farragut’s eventual 3-0 win against West Saturday, Oct. 6, at Farragut Middle School.

Saying Ulrich is “out indefinitely,” Lindsay added, “It’s either a high ankle sprain or possibly a fracture … possibly a hairline fracture, that’s what I heard. I don’t know if she’ll be back or not. We’re going to reevaluate it Friday.”

On the field, the Lady Admirals improved to 14-2-1 behind goals from Mindy Hopkins, Whitney Newby and Alyssa Dresen.

Assists came from Hopkins and Lauren Ward.

In a 5-0 drubbing of Lenoir City Tuesday, Oct. 2, at LCHS, Ulrich and Hopkins led the way with two goals each, with Dresen scoring one. Dresen led with two assists, while Ashley Reveiz had one.

“Mindy Hopkins has picked up her game pretty well,” Lindsay said about his midfielder/forward. “Alyssa Dresen is still going strong. She’s been solid all year.

“Of course, Ulrich looked good until she got injured,” the coach added. “Defensively, M-C Suhocki and Shannon Shell have done well.”
