Season ends in 4-AAA tourney for VolleyDogs

The Bearden VolleyDogs end its season with a 3-2 loss to South-Doyle in the District 4-AAA Volleyball Tournament Tuesday, Oct. 9 at BHS.

Brittany Basham had 35 assists and 14 points while Riley Armstrong had 16 kills.

Despite the loss, BHS head coach Jennifer Allen feels the season was a success.

With a 26-15 overall record, “A lot of people really weren’t expecting us to be in the hunt and we were real competitive in almost every game we played,” Allen said. “We won most of the games outside of our district, so I thought they did real well and I am proud of them.”

The senior leadership of Basham, Brianna Rittenhouse and Natalie Birdsall was praised.

“We had great seniors and all three of the played pretty much for the last three years,” Allen said. “All of them had big roles on the team. Lots of leadership there, especially with Brittany. She was kind of the floor leader, being the setter. All of them had successful careers and they meant a lot to our team.”
