Playoff-bound ‘Blue Machine’
Hugh Willett - Thu, Oct, 18, 2007
Coach Steve Brewer’s CBFO “Blue Machine” NFC Minor Pee Wees earned a spot in the Knox Metro Youth Football League playoffs with a 24-6 win against Carter Thursday night, Oct. 11, at Tarleton Field.
Improving its record to 6-2, “Blue Machine” got touchdown runs by runningbacks Reagan Amos and Jayce Dorman, while quarterback Thomas Hocken-berry scored on an end run with effective blocking by linemen Luke Smith and Sam Beaty.
Fullback Mathew Eggert bulled his way through the Carter line for several important short yardage gains.
Hockenberry, taking the snap from center Nate Price, fired a 30-yard pass to Danny Martin, one of the game’s longest plays.
Danny Steadham ran for the fourth touchdown, with back-up quarterback Conner Craig under center.
“Blue Machine’s” defensive line included Nicholas Brewer and Hayden Brophy, part of a defense forcing several turnovers. Linebackers Taylor Blaine and Zack Readett and defensive backs Sam Bruce and Daniel Martin were among CBFO’s leading tacklers.
