FHS cross country teams top 7 in state

Led by two All-state running efforts, Farragut’s girls cross country team finished fourth at the Class AAA state meet at Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Course in Nashville Saturday, Nov. 3.

Meanwhile, an “almost” state finish paced the FHS boys to a seventh-place finish.

Sophomore Alex Newby earned her second All-state honor by finishing sixth (19:26.14). Junior teammate Alyssa Dresen also claimed All-state honors with a 15th-place finish (19:52.80).

Five other Lady Admirals were among the top 85: Hope Brinson 59th, Peri Winborne 63rd, Margo Sneed 68th, Alison Woodford 69th and Joanna Cannata 81st.

“The girls ran the best race they’ve run all year,” FHS head coach Chelsea Jacbos said.

Senior Chris Wright was painfully close to All-state status for the boys (top 15), taking 16th (16:46.54). “He ran a great race,” Jacobs said. Senior Jacob Gibson was 31st (17:20.74) followed by Kenta Nolin taking 39th (17:26.31), Kyle Branson 75th, Adam Carr 78th, Tom Jarvis 100th and Michael Hansen 114.
