Lady Ads split first two

The Farragut Lady Admirals opened the season with a 60-37 win against the Clinton Lady Dragons in a Hall of Fame game Thursday, Nov. 15 at CHS.

Defending Division II state champ Webb, led by Glory Johnson’s 34 points, beat the Lady Ads 67-54 Saturday at FHS.

But at Clinton, FHS started the game on a 10-1 run and finished the first quarter with a 10-3 lead. Defense proved to be the key.

“I thought our defense was good at times,” Farragut head coach Mike Driver said. “We got a lot of turnovers but that’s what we try to do when we play baseline to baseline defense. I thought our offense was a little rusty in the first half, but defense will make up some easy baskets and that’s what we did in the second half.”

The Lady Ads took a 29-15 lead into halftime and expanded it to 45-24 after three quarters.

“I think we played well together,” senior Allison Bosse said. “I think we did what we needed to do to stick together as a team and we worked well together.”

Bosse led the Lady Admirals with 14 points and five rebounds.

“Allison had a real good second half,” Driver said. “She got a lot of steals for us and gave us some energy.”

Junior Stephanie Torrence added nine points and sophomore Kylann Scheidt contributed six.

“We are a team that is going to score by committee,” Driver said. “Stephanie Torrence could be a leader for us scoring but she wasn’t hitting tonight. In the first half Kylann came off the bench and hit three big shots. I hope everybody averages six points a night because that would be nice.”

Overall for the first game of the season, Driver was pleased with the way the Lady Admirals played.

“I’m pretty pleased with it,” Driver said. “It’s the beginning of the season and we are going to be rusty. Our offense will get better and hopefully we will build on this game.
