Create your own bath products

Bath Junkie, a bath and body shop where customers are able to design their own product, has chosen Farragut as one of its three current locations in Tennessee.

Amber Roggeman, co-owner and manager of Bath Junkie, which is located in Parkside Station at Turkey Creek, said the idea to open the store came through her own experience with the franchise.

“My family was in Florida and we stopped at the Bath Junkie in Gainesville and we absolutely loved it. On our way home we discussed the possibility of opening a store in Knoxville.”

Roggeman, who was a sixth- grade teacher at Karns Middle School prior to opening Bath Junkie, added, “I quit doing what I love to do this, but I am having a great time and I love it.”

Bath Junkie is unique in that all its personal care products can be customized to each customer’s preference.

“We have over 200 scents. You can make any kind of scent combination,” Roggeman said.

“You can customize them and we can tint them any color, so if you like the smell of strawberries, but you want them to be green to match your bathroom décor, we can do that.”

Bath Junkie has something for each member of your family, including those with four legs.

“We have bath products [for men and women], cologne, baby products, home products, and for dogs, we have Mutt Mist, which is a cologne you can customize for your doggie,” Roggeman said.

The store also carries a line of “modern soaps.”

“Our fortune cookie line has been very popular, they are a cute hand soap,” Roggeman said.

The soaps, which are shaped like fortune cookies, come in a Chinese take-out box.

“We have great holiday gift ideas,” she added.

“One thing we have is the Fill’er Up Boxes. We dress up the empty bottles and put them in a [gift] box. The person who receives the gift gets to come in and fill [the bottles], so it’s always perfect.

“Another thing we have are the margarita, ice cream and coffee [gift] sets. For example, the margarita set comes with a real margarita glass, a bath ball, bath salt, and the glycerin soap is actually used as the lime on the rim of the glass,” Roggeman said.

Bath Junkie is one of the few retailers to carry the Kashwere line, which was featured on “Oprah’s Favorite Things” holiday gift list.

“We have robes, throws, slippers and socks. They are only sold in a few select stores in the United States. The closest to us to actually carry this line would be Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom’s,” Roggeman said.

Bath Junkie also offers unique party ideas.

“We have all kinds of parties. Girl’s night, out, kids’ birthday parties, wedding showers and sorority parties, for four or more people.

“You can have food catered or bring your own food in. Everybody gets to mingle and have their hands done with our salt scrub treatment, then everyone gets to pick their scent at the scent station and create a package.”

Though Bath Junkie products are not labeled hypo-allergenic, Roggeman said the company strives to make a product that will be gentle and contains no harsh dyes.

“We do not use alcohol or mineral oil, which dries out the skin, in our products, and we are working on being completely paraffin free.

“If there is a natural ingredient that can be used in the place of a chemical ingredient, we use the natural form. For example, in our liquid powder, instead of using talc, we use tapioca,” she added.

Roggeman said she has not decided yet what sales she will have for he holidays, but “we will definitely do something.”
