Knox County unveils Hispanic Web site
- Thu, Dec, 20, 2007
The Hispanic population is a growing and important part of the Knox County business and residential community. As such, it is important to provide online access to essential county information and resources, Knox County spokesman Dwight Van de Vate said in a press release.
Previously Knox County utilized commercial automated translation software to provide web content in Spanish. It was brought to our attention that the translated version was not accurate and in many cases translated the language into exact opposite meanings from those intended, he said.
With the help of Patricia Robledo Translations, Knox County has redeveloped selected Spanish content on the County’s Web site. Found at http://knoxcounty.org/espanol/, the updated information provides information on essential county services such as the Health Department, how to obtain a marriage or business license, or how to pay taxes and other information as well as links to informational sites in Spanish.
For more information or to offer suggestions for the Web site, contact the Knox County Office of Neighborhoods at 865-215-HELP (4357).
