Lady Ads beat teams from three states, take 3rd in Sunshine Classic

With a 14-point victory against Atlantic High School, Daytona Beach, Fla., the Farragut Lady Admirals basketball team capped its annual trip to the Sunshine Classic in Daytona with a third-place finish among a multi-state field.

Allison Bosse, 5-foot-9 senior post, and Stephanie Torrence, junior shooting guard, were Lady Admiral All-tournament honorees during the three-day classic (Thursday, Dec. 27 through Saturday, Dec. 29).

Also, “Stephanie Harris had a real good week,” FHS head coach Mike Driver said about his 5-foot-11 sophomore post.

Farragut went 3-1 in its four games (11-6 overall), having to play twice Thursday. The Lady Admirals opened that morning with a 62-57 win against Perry Central, Ky.

Junior wing Jennifer Rutherford led FHS with 13 points. Bosse added 12, Torrence 11 and Hayley Newby eight.

Brittney Doss, Stephanie Harris, C.J. Dake and Meredith Lindley each had four points. Kylann Scheidt scored two.

Scheidt’s 12 points led the way that afternoon in a 55-21 Farragut drubbing of Vero Beach, Fla.

Bosse added eight, Lindley and Dake five apiece, Abbie Cooper, Hayley Newby, Harris and Rutherford four each, Torrence three and Alex Newby, Amanda Isbell and Katie Cafferky two apiece.

James Madison, Va., eventual classic champ, handed the Lady Admirals its only Florida loss, 50-33, Friday. Harris led FHS with 10 points, followed by Bosse with eight, Dake six, Torrence and Hayley Newby four each and Scheidt one.
