V-Day plans ‘special’


Many area restaurants are offering menu specials, extended hours or small gifts to attract Valentine’s Day couples.

Bonefish Grill will open at 3 p.m. Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, to accommodate the heavier crowds. The restaurant also usually presents couples with a small gift. Although the Turkey Creek restaurant’s manager is mum as to the gift this year, last Valentine’s Day each couple was given chocolate -- covered strawberries. The restaurant is accepting reservations. Besides its regular menu items, Connor’s will be offering seafood and steak specials. Fresh meat and seafood are flown in daily, so the special items are not set yet. Connor’s also is accepting reservations. For more information, call the Turkey Creek Connor’s at 865-966-0933.

Fleming’s in Turkey Creek opens at 3 p.m. Valentine’s Day and also will stay open later than its usual closing time of 10:30 p.m. It is offering a special sharing menu, which will feature two special “prix fixe” menus: the choice is between a “Saucy Glazed 40 ounce Porterhouse” served with snap peas and parmesan mashed potatoes and choice of salads and “Puff Pastry Filled with Naked Lobster” served with grilled asparagus, potatoes and choice of salads. Wine pairings are suggested with both selections and each menu includes a finish of “Dark Chocolate Frangelico Fondue.” Fleming’s special extends beyond Valentine’s Day, ending Sunday, Feb. 17. Season’s Café in Renaissance / Farragut will have a special menu for $45 per person. It begins with the eater’s choice of appetizer: “Port Wine Duck” or “Prawns with Boursin Cream,” followed by salad. Next is the entrée: “Folie a Deux Chicken,” “Parmesan Encrusted Sea Bass” or “Tenderloin Oscar.” For dessert, choose from “Crème Brulee Cheesecake,” “Three Layer Sorbet Cake” and “Chocolate Flourless Torte.” To make reservations or for more information, call 865-671-3679.

At Chesapeake’s, the specials menu changes daily and Valentine’s Day is no different. The staff is planning to add tables to the banquet rooms to accommodate the crowds. To make reservations, call 865-673-3433.

Bravo will offer a special dessert, but as of Feb. 1 was undecided on what it should be. The restaurant is taking reservations and offering call-ahead seating. For more information, call the Bearden Hill location at 865-584-5510.

Amerigo plans a special Valentine’s Day surf and turf selection: filet and lobster tail served with fettucine and asparagus and preceded by soup and salad. It is followed by Amerigo’s best-selling dessert, “Crème Brulee Cheesecake.” The restaurant is open regular hours, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. To make reservations, call 865-558-6990.

Carraba’s opens at 4:30 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Although it does not have special menu plans, the staff will give flowers to the ladies who visit the restaurant on Valentine’s Day. Carraba’s does not accept reservations, but for call-ahead seating, call 865-692-2223.

Ruth’s Chris is open during its usual business hours and is offering a $140 shared menu. The three courses include a choice of appetizers (“Shrimp Cocktail,” “Shrimp Remoulade,” “Seared Ahi Tuna” or “Mushrooms Stuffed with Crab Meat”), a house salad, and an 8 ounce filet with Caribbean lobster tail. For dessert the restaurant will offer a “Duo of Chocolate.” For an extra $25, Ruth’s Chris staff will pair three glasses of wine with the menu. As of Jan. 31, Ruth’s Chris was completely booked, but to check for cancellations or for more information, call 865-546-4696.

Regas will offer a choice of two sharing menus. For $100, a couple will be served two separate entrées: a 6 ounce filet mignon with five grilled shrimp, and an 8 ounce prime rib with 1/2 pound of crab legs. For $75, each person will be served the 6 ounce filet and shrimp. Both sharing menus will be accompanied by two glasses of champagne and one piece of cheesecake. Copper Cellar/Cappucino’s off Kingston Pike usually offers “traditional” feature items such as beef wellington and giant Australian lobster tails on top of its regular menu. The restaurant will be operating on normal business hours and is taking reservations at 865-673-3422.

Vinny & Me in Turkey Creek will offer a special menu. Guests will be able to choose their appetizer, soup or salad and entrée. Entrées include “Filet Oscar,” “Black Sable Grouper,” “Ostrich Scallopine” and “Goat Cheese and Roasted Red Pepper Ravioli.” The choice of entrée determines the price. Dessert for everyone is “Passion Fruit Mousse in Chocolate Hearts.” For more information, call 865-675-3500.
