Lady Ad JV girls again perfect

For the third straight season Wes Edmonds’ Farragut Lady Admirals junior varsity basketball team has finished the season undefeated.

With a final 10-0 record, “I cannot be prouder of the J-V team this year,” Edmonds said. “We set very high goals and expectations for this season and the girls totally overachieved.

“This is the third straight year for our J-V team to go undefeated and this year’s class is the first to go undefeated the entire year including regular season, summer games, and even pre-season scrimmages.”

Edmonds said the “high-point” of the season was beating Bearden for the third straight year, a 14-point win at BHS.

“The girls always get excited to play and beat Bearden, because of the historical rivalry and it is the game where the largest number of people get to watch us play,” the coach said.

“Since there isn’t a Knox County or District J-V girl’s tournament, our girls play every game like it’s an elimination game,” Edmonds added. “That is the reason we set our goal every year to go undefeated, because that is the only way we canclaim to be Region 2 District 4 J-V champions.”

Leading scorer sophomore Klann Sheidt said, “It was fun to be a part of the successful J-V program at Farragut. We had a great season. Our whole team got along very well and we had a lot of fun together.

“I was very glad that I got to play with this great group of girls.”

The JV skipper also praised FHS varsity head coach Mike Driver, who “really supports the J-V program by giving us talented players, scheduling us summer games, pre-season scrimmage games, and always sharing offensive and defensive strategies.”
