Town debuts new Web site

The town of Farragut launched its new Web site March 27.

Allison Myers, Town recorder, presented the new site to Farragut Board of Mayor and Alderman members that evening.

“I am very excited to present to you the new town of Farragut Web site, live as of 4:55 [p.m.] today,” she said.

“It’s available at townoffarragut.org,” she added.

The new Web site features an entirely new layout: more graphics and clearer guidelines and menus. It utilizes a design by MediaPulse and is powered through Ideal Platform.

“I’m very excited about this … It’s very user friendly,” Myers said.

“You can get anything on there from forms for development to if you want to be on a committee to the agenda. It’s very easy,” she said as she guided Board members through the site.

“It looks great,” Alderman John Williams said.

“We encourage our citizens to log in and test it out and certainly to provide feedback to Allison,” Mayor W. Edward “Eddy” Ford III said.

“It’s been a long process,” Myers added as members of the Board congratulated and thanked her for her work.

According to Sue Stuhl, leisure services director, Town staff had been training in using the Web site for several months. Work on the site began last year.

One person in each department is in charge of uploading information to the site. “There are four departments: administration, engineering, community development and leisure services [and] each has a person and an area that we take care of,” she said.

“We have direct control … and we always have support from MediaPulse for any changes and any problems, but we can adapt it pretty quickly if we need to,” she added.
