Tourney 5-0 for Diamond Admirals
FHS mops up at Tullahoma Tournament, improved to 22-0

Winning by less than 10 runs only once in seven victories last week, the Farragut baseball machine powers on with a perfect 22-0 record entering the week.

“We played pretty well, swung the bats alright, all of our pitchers pitched well,” FHS head coach Tommy Pharr said.

District 4-AAA wins against Sevier County (14-4 Tuesday, April 8) and Lenoir City (10-0 the next day) set the stage for five wins at the Tullahoma Tournament Friday and Saturday, April 11-12.

Beating Falkville, Ala., 19-0 and host Tullahoma 4-0 Friday, the Admirals blew out Tullahoma 15-0 in a rematch Saturday then crushed Coffee County 16-2 before ending the week with a 10-0 drubbing of Bradley Central.

Is Pharr worried his team may feel extra pressure because of its perfect record? “In high school baseball you’re going to lose some — it’s probably going to happen sooner or later,” he said. “We never talk about not being beaten. I think our guys are pretty focused.”

While junior standout shortstop Curt Powell missed all five Tullahoma games with a tendon problem in his wrist, Pharr praised senior Ryan Burnett for “a good job ... swung the bat well this weekend” after his work filling in at second base, with freshman Nicky Delmonico moving from second to shortstop.

Powell was expected back this week.
