Lee a champ, No. 2 at OR; FHS boys 5th

Max Lee keeps getting better and better, and he’s got triple jump and long jump results to prove it.

The Farragut High School junior captured first-place in the triple jump (40-feet-09.50) and second in the high jump (20-09.50) during the 2008 Oak Ridge Relays Saturday, April 12, at ORHS among a 15-team field.

The Admirals finished fifth (62.50 points), while the FHS girls were 12th (20).

“Max did have a good day, Max is really showing up this year, he’s really ready to start competing,” said FHS girls head coach Chelsea Jacobs, who also works with the boys team. “He’s set a personal best in almost every meet we’ve had this year, so we’re very happy with where he’s going.”

Farragut’s 4 X 1600 relay team of Kenta Nolin, Kyle Branson, Todd Lathrop and Steven Skovran finish first (20:13.41).

Other top finishes included Jeff Jameson’s second-place showing in the shot put (43-07.50), and the FHS 4 X 800 relay team of Michael McCormick, Tom Jarvis, Jacob Gibson and John Terry that also finished second (8:33.06).

Farragut’s top girls efforts came with fourth-place showings in the 4 X 200 relay, distance medley and 4 X 800 relay.

Webb’s 4th-place girls finish was led by All-state honoree Glory Johnson, champ in the 100-meter dash (12.52) and runner-up in the long jump.

The Lady Spartans also were champs in the 4 X 1600 relay and 800 sprint medley, and were second in the distance medley.

Christian Academy of Knoxville’s girls, ending in 10th-place, finished second in the 800 sprint medley.

Webb’s boys, a 10th-place finisher, were second in the 4 X 100, while Justin Emerson’s second-place 100-dash finished helped the CAK boys place 11th.
