• Bearden High School Foundation’s Sixth Annual Bulldog Classic beginning with lunch at noon, and tee times at 1 p.m., Friday, May 9, at Willow Creek Golf Course. Format is four-person scramble. • Concord Sailing Center, 11600 Northshore Drive at Concord Yacht Club, is holding learn to sail instruction for beginner, advanced and intermediate levels for ages 8-15 who can swim at least 50 yards without life jacket. Instruction is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 2-6, June 9-13 for intermediate and advanced sailors; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 16-20, June 23-27 for beginners and intermediate sailors. • Early Bird Fall 2008 CBFO Football signups continue for ages 7 through 14 as of Sept. 1, 2008, who will enter eighth-grade or below this coming fall (tackle football program), while children ages 5 and 6 as of Sept. 1, 2008 can play in Flag Football League only. Signup at 11609 Northshore Drive (football practice fields) are from 6:30 to 9 p.m., May 19-20 and June 2-3. Signups will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 10, and 2-5 p.m. May 18. Cost for tackle football is $140 due at sign-up before May 1. Registration will begin again May 10 until July 10 costing $175 per player. Players residing outside of Knox County and senior midgets (13-14-year-olds) will pay an additional $30 fee. Flag Football cost is $50 per child regardless of sign-up date. • Sophomore Jessie Howard, former Farragut High School softball standout (Class of 2006), had six of Carson-Newman's 29 hits as the nation’s 18th-ranked NCAA Division II Lady Eagles swept a doubleheader from King College Monday, April 14, helping C-N sets a new school record for wins in a season at 44 (44-6). Howard finished the 2008 regular season as South Atlantic Conference leader in stolen bases percentage per game at .920.

• Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding in Lenoir City is participating in Knoxville Open Golf tournament by selling tickets to the annual event at Fox Den Country Club, held June 19-22 this year. Knox Area Golf Charities is collaborating with local non-profit groups to sell $25 weekly (general admission) tickets. Tickets are $25 each or buy three and get one free. • Knox County Parks and Recreation, along with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department and Legacy Parks Foundation, will host the inaugural Get Out & Swap! Event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 17, in The Butcher Shop parking lot at World’s Fair Park, as part of the Get Outdoors Festival. Get Out and Swap! is free for buyers so come out and browse a wide selection of outdoor recreational items. Cost for sellers is $10 to rent a space for those who pre-register, and $15 a space the day of the event. Pre-registration will end May 15. Space is limited. • Hardin Valley Academy’s “Meet the Coaches” night, where all HVA Hawks head coaches will gather, begins at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, at First Baptist Church, Concord off Kingston Pike in Farragut. All rising seventh- through ninth-grade students who want to participate in athletics must have a well-child physical from a doctor.

• Concord Park Little Champs golf championship for ages 11 and under begins with tee times at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 26. Format is 9-hole stroke play. Cost is $15 per player.
