Alvanas, Kidd to wed
Stephen and Nancy Alvanas of Knoxville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carey Elizabeth Alvanas, to Troy Hylton Kidd, son of the Rev. Dr. Ralph and Carolyn Kidd of Kingsport.

She also is the granddaughter of Gordon and Jean Marshall of Loudon and Mary Alvanas and the late Manuel Alvanas of Portsmouth R.I. He is the grandson of Lillias Kidd and the late Ralph Kidd of Bastian, Va. and Jim and Sue Long of Pearisburg, Va.

The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Farragut High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications and Spanish literature from Emory & Henry College in 2004. She currently is employed as director of development for Knoxville Area Project Access.

The groom-elect, a 1999 graduate of Virginia High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Emory & Henry College in 2003. He currently is employed as manager of Knoxville Plasma.

The wedding ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Concord United Methodist Church.

Following a honeymoon to Boston and Cape Cod, the couple will reside in Knoxville.


Gay, Swinson to wed
James and Janet Gay of Farragut announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Meghan Kristine Gay, to Kenneth Wray Swinson, son of Dawn and Craig Swinson of Farragut.

She also is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Gill of Muncie, Ind. He is the grandson of Mel and Doris Swinson of Redlands, Calif.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Farragut High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology from The University of Tennessee in 2008.

The groom-elect, a 2004 graduate of Farragut High School, is currently a student at The University of Tennessee and is employed with Biosystems Engineering.

The wedding ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Maple Grove Inn.

After a honeymoon to Florida, the couple will reside in Knoxville.
