‘Rising’ award goes to Riemann

Chelsey Riemann, town of Farragut’s public relations coordinator, was recently awarded the Rising Young Professional award by the Public Relations Society of America, Volunteer Chapter.

“This is a fairly new award. We give away five individual awards every year, and I think it was just four years ago that we established the Rising Young Professional award,” Riemann said.

“It’s given to an individual who is very involved in the Volunteer chapter … and whose supervisor feels they deserve the award,” she added.

The award honors those who have worked in public relations for five years or less. Riemann was nominated by her supervisor, Sue Stuhl.

“I do all the public relations for the Town, whether its promoting our special events or programs, or if there’s any issues going on with the Town, I’m the one who will be sending out information about that,” Riemann said.

She also is in charge of marketing materials for Town programs and special events .

“I’m sort of the back-up to the special events coordinator,” she added.

The more than 100-member Volunteer Chapter is the East Tennessee chapter of PRSA; this year, Riemann was co-chair of the annual awards event.

“My fellow co-chair had to keep this a secret from me,” Riemann said.

“I was really honored, especially since Sue nominated me. It made me feel very good about how she perceives me and the work that I do here. It was very much an honor,” she added.
