• Score a hole-in-one for Pellissippi State Technical Community College students by signing up for the college’s fourth annual “Swing Big for Students” Golf Tournament, set for May 6 at Egwani Farms in Rockford. Sponsored by the Pellissippi State Foundation, the event is an 18-hole tourney with a shotgun-scramble start. Golfers have their choice of an 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. tee-off. Registration deadline is Friday, May 2. Individual fees are $100 per person or $400 for a team of four. • Bearden High School Foundation’s Sixth Annual Bulldog Classic beginning with lunch at noon, and tee times at 1 p.m., Friday, May 9, at Willow Creek Golf Course. Format is four-person scramble. Proceeds benefit BHS Foundation for general education and scholarship opportunities. Prices include green and cart fees for 18 holes, lunch, door prizes and awards ceremony. • Concord Sailing Center, 11600 Northshore Drive at Concord Yacht Club, is holding learn to sail instruction for beginner, advanced and intermediate levels for ages 8-15 who can swim at least 50 yards without life jacket. Instruction is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 2-6, June 9-13 for intermediate and advanced sailors; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 16-20, June 23-27 for beginners and intermediate sailors. • Early Bird Fall 2008 CBFO Football signups continue for ages 7 through 14 as of Sept. 1, 2008, who will enter eighth-grade or below this coming fall (tackle football program), while children ages 5 and 6 as of Sept. 1, 2008 can play in Flag Football League only. Signup at 11609 Northshore Drive (football practice fields) are from 6:30 to 9 p.m., May 19-20 and June 2-3. Signups will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 10, and 2-5 p.m. May 18. Cost for tackle football for registration period May 10 until July 10 is $175 per player. Players residing outside of Knox County and senior midgets (13-14-year-olds) will pay an additional $30 fee. Flag Football cost is $50 per child regardless of sign-up date. Forms can be picked up at Pak-Mail in the Ingles shopping center in Farragut. • Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding in Lenoir City is selling tickets to the Knoxville Open Golf tournament at Fox Den Country Club June 19-22. Knox Area Golf Charities is working with local non-profit groups to sell $25 weekly (general admission) tickets. Tickets are $25 each or buy three and get one free. • Knox County Parks and Recreation, along with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department and Legacy Parks Foundation, will host the inaugural Get Out & Swap! Event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 17, in The Butcher Shop parking lot at World’s Fair Park, as part of the Get Outdoors Festival. Get Out and Swap! is free for buyers so come out and browse a wide selection of outdoor recreational items. Cost for sellers is $10 to rent a space for those who pre-register, and $15 a space the day of the event. Pre-registration will end May 15. Space is limited.
