Fredenberg sets records in BHS win
Alan Sloan - Thu, May, 8, 2008
It wasn’t exactly a great softball season at Bearden High School, but the Bulldogs enjoyed one last shot of revenge.

And in doing so, their senior leader broke two school records with a huge shot.
Bearden, No. 6 seed in the District 4-AAA Tournament at South-Doyle, avenged a season-ending loss to Lenoir City in last year’s tourney with a 12-1 blowout Wednesday, April 30.
Megan Fredenberg, Lady Bulldog standout senior catcher, tripled while hitting her sixth home run of the season, ninth of her career — both setting new BHS home run records according to Bearden head coach Gary Mashburn.
“We’re very proud of that,” he said, adding Fredenberg was a team “mainstay” during her career and “strong all year long.”
Winning pitcher Kaylee Heemsoth allowed just three hits in five innings. “She pitched very well,” Mashburn said.
William Blount, No. 3 seed, jumped ahead early and went on to a 10-0 win to end the BHS season (13-20 record) one day later in second-round tourney action.
Bearden closed out the regular season with a wild 14-12 home victory versus Fulton Tuesday, April 29. Mashburn praised Lady Bulldog junior third baseman/pitcher Alex Boris “for a productive night at the plate, and a strong defensive game as well.”
