• Third Annual Farragut High School Basketball Golf Tournament is set for Monday, June 9, at Willow Creek Golf Club. Lunch is at noon followed by tee times at 2 p.m. Entry deadline is Monday, June 2. Costs are $125 per player, $475 per team. Mail registration and checks payable to FHS 6th Player Club, 808 Woodsmooke Circle, Knoxville, TN 37934. Prizes awarded to top three teams.

• Farragut’s boys tennis team lost a razor-thin 5-4 decision to Maryville at the District 4-AAA championship match Friday, May 2, at Tyson Park. Winners for FHS (final 10-3 record) in singles were No. 4 Russell Graves, No. 5 Andrew Klarner and No. 6 Adam Wozek. Admirals doubles winner was the No. 3 team of Michael Laboe-John Anderson.

• Tennessee Valley Fair once again will host the annual Cheerleading Competition beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Homer Hamilton Theatre at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville. Competition is open to all official squads from elementary, junior and senior high schools and recreation centers in Recreation Centers I, Recreation Centers II, Elementary, Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity categories. Judging elements include tumbling, timing, voice, difficulty, stunts, jumps, formation and enthusiasm. Entry deadline is Aug. 18 and limited to first 35 entries received. • East Tennessee Chapter of Tennessee Trails Association scenic hike along old railroad bed along Middle Prong of the Little River is Saturday, May 24. • Early Bird Fall 2008 CBFO Football signups continue for ages 7 through 14 as of Sept. 1, 2008, who will enter eighth-grade or below this coming fall (tackle football program), while children ages 5 and 6 as of Sept. 1, 2008 can play in Flag Football League only. Signup at 11609 Northshore Drive (football practice fields) are from 6:30 to 9 p.m., May 19-20 and June 2-3. Signups will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 10, and 2-5 p.m. May 18. • Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding in Lenoir City is selling tickets to the Knoxville Open Golf tournament at Fox Den Country Club June 19-22. • Knox County Parks and Recreation, along with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department and Legacy Parks Foundation, will host the inaugural Get Out & Swap! Event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 17, in The Butcher Shop parking lot at World’s Fair Park, as part of the Get Outdoors Festival. Cost for sellers is $10 to rent a space for those who pre-register, and $15 a space the day of the event. Pre-registration will end May 15. Space is limited.
