• Bob Dylan’s Birthday Bash 2008 is Saturday, May 24, at the World’s Fair Park Amphitheater in Knoxville. This year's event is a benefit for Community Shares and runs from 7 to 11:30 p.m. with an admission price of $15. Tickets may be bought in advance at all Tickets Unlimited outlets. Co-hosts this year are Bob Deck and Todd Steed. Musical acts include the Carawan Family, Todd Steed & the Suns of Phere, the Lonetones, Garage Deluxe, Maggie Longmire, the Detroit Daddies, Dead Flowers, Greg Horne, Steve Horton & his Tres Bien Ensemble and Steve Dupree. Each act performs Dylan compositions in 20-30 minute sets, usually with no songs being repeated, in a wide variety of musical styles. This is the fourth year for the event.

• East Tennessee Jazz Society, Inc. will meet from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18, at Swank's 100 Court Jazz Restaurant and Bar in Maryville. Door charge is $5 for members, $10 for non-members and $1 for students (ID card please).

• The 4th Annual Marble City 10 Hour Film Festival will take place beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday June 21, on Market Square in downtown Knoxville. Film submissions will be accepted between 6-7 p.m. at the Bijou. Rules will be posted in advance and provided in the entry registration package. Film Screenings will be at the Bijou Theatre, beginning at 7:30 p.m. until all have been shown. Public admission is $7 a ticket.

• Nine Inch Nails with special guest Deerhunter will perform at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Knoxville Civic Coliseum. • “Weird Al” Yankovic performs at 8 p.m., Saturday, July 19, at Tennessee Theatre. • Two nights with Widespread Panic. Widespread Panic appears at 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 15, at Tennessee Theatre. • The June 5 date of Sundown in the City 2008 has been filled with 20-year-old pop singer Kate Voegele, whose debut full-length CD, “Don't Look Away” on MySpace Records has been likened to a “female parallel to John Mayer’s ‘Room for Squares’ — at once a zeitgeist-capturing landmark and the launchpad for a viable career.” The night's co-headliner, Jon McLaughlin, is a pianist inspired by the soaring pop anthems of Elton John and Ben Folds. He performed the song “So Close” in the Disney film “Enchanted,” and his debut CD, “Indiana,” pays tribute to his home state and features the song, “Beautiful Disaster.”

• “Golf: The Musical,” will be presented May 15-18 at the Palace Theatre along Main Street in Crossville. Performance times are 7 p.m. Central time, May 15-17 and 2 p.m., May 18. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students and may be reserved by calling Alice Payne at 865-484-7997.
