FHS settles for 2nd in 4-AAA Tournament
Staff Reports - Thu, May, 15, 2008
Maryville proved to be barely superior to Farragut during the Class 4-AAA Softball tourney last week at South-Doyle High School.
The Lady Rebels managed to slip past FHS twice and win the tourney, which ended in a 3-2 Maryville victory in the 4-AAA finals Wednesday, May 7.
Farragut, however, survived into Region 2-AAA play (see story above) with a 3-2, nine-inning win against Heritage and a 10-0 drubbing of William Blount. Maryville downed the Lady Ads 2-1 in their first tourney showdown.
Among top FHS efforts, Stephanie Harris went 4-for-4 against Heritage with the game-winning RBI. Shortstop Andi Murry “probably had her best game,” coach David Moore said.
In the first MHS game, center fielder LaShae Wallace made a key outstanding catch, Moore said.
Laura Greeley helped ignite FHS’s six-run fourth inning against WBHS with a two-RBI single. “That got us going,” Moore said. Abby Rose Martin added three hits, as did Megan Harris and Stephanie Harris.
