Diamond Ads advance, Region 2-AAA champs
Cooper racks up 12 K's, Williams 3-for-3

The Farragut Admirals captured the Region 2-AAA crown with a 7-5 win over the Halls Red Devils Wednesday, May 14 at John Heatherly Field.

With the win the Admirals host the loser of the Sullivan South and Science Hill game, Friday, May 16.

We like to play at home, Farragut coach Tommy Pharr said. It doesnt guarantee you are going to win or anything, but we like being here at our field. You dont have to travel and that makes it a lot easier.

Junior Jordan Cooper went 5 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win. The southpaw finished the game with 12 strikeouts, one walk and only one hit, a solo homerun to Austin Noe in the fourth inning.

Senior Michael Williams busted out of a late season slump with a 3-for3 day at the plate and three RBIs.

I just wanted to help the team out, Williams said. I have been in a slump but my teammates have been picking me up lately so Ive just been focusing better and Im glad I could help the team out tonight.

After Williams tied the game 5-5 in the fifth inning with an RBI single, the Admirals got a two-RBI triple from junior shortstop Curt Powell in the sixth to give the Admirals what proved to be the winning runs.
