27 straight: North American-based award again earned by Myers, Town Financial staff

For the 27th consecutive year, Town of Farragut has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from a North American association for excellence in its comprehensive annual Financial Report.

Once again recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada is the Town’s Finance staff, led by Town Recorder Allison Myers, which puts together the annual Financial Report.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” a Town press release stated.

“It is a real accomplishment,” Town administrator David Smoak said. “Not a lot of cities get that award, and a lot of them probably don’t because they typically don’t go to the level of professionalism and transparency that Farragut does.

“It is great for the community to know that the Town’s finances are not only in good shape, but are acknowledged as such by this group,” he added.

The GFOA is a nonprofit association serving more than 20,000 government finance professionals.
