• The Rev. David A. Panitzke has become pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at a special worship service July 13. His father, the Rev. Peter A. Panitzke, was guest preacher.
• Cokesbury United Methodist Church plans “Picnic and a Movie” special events July 17 and 24. Picnic begins at 11 a.m. each Thursday, followed by a G-rated movie: “101 Dalmations” July 17 and “Meet the Robinsons” July 24.
• Calvary Baptist Church plans an Upward Flag Football league for boys and girls, in kindergarten through sixth grade. Cost is $60 per player and evaluations will be helf from 6 to 8 p.m., July 22. Practices begin the week of Aug. 4.
• Westside Unitarian Universalist Church announces its next Month of Sundays: July 20, “Forgiveness and Self-Perception,” and July 27, “The Kindness Connection.” All services begin at 11 a.m.

• Knoxville Christian Center announces the next performances in Christian Family Nights. Mercy Me with special guest Bebo Norman will perform at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25. Tickets are $15 advance donation and $18 day of show. VeggieTales “God Made You Special Live” will play at 1 and 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3. Tickets are $12 advance donation and $15 day of show. Children younger than age 1 enter free with an adult. Big Daddy Weave with Rush of Fools will perform at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17. Tickets are $12 advance donation and $15 day of show. • The Rev. Robert M. Krueger, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church for nearly 12 years, has moved to serve a new congregation in Crossville. He was installed as pastor June 29.
• Cokesbury United Methodist Church’s new Wednesday night Bible study class began July 2. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and theme is “Encounters with Jesus that Changed Lives.” Study will be taught by Steve Sallee, Stephen DeFur, Rebekah Fetzer and Micah Nicolaus. • St. John Neumann Catholic Church has added a mass Monday evenings at 6 p.m. The church vacated its current premises July 5. All masses will be celebrated at St. John Neumann School until the church’s new building is complete. Other masses are celebrated at 6 p.m. each Saturday and at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. each Sunday.
• Two Rivers Church plans a live simulcast of a Beth Moore conference Aug. 1-2. The event will be held at the church from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased at the church. For more information, call the church at
