Ingles announces October opening date, future plans

Ingles Market supercenter is projecting an opening date of Oct. 11, according to Ingles store manager Charles “C.D.” Pressley.

The 93,000 square foot supermarket also will include an 1,800 square foot convenience store, dubbed The I Market.

“They’ll have coffee and fast-consumption type foods in it, beverages and chips and stuff like that,” Pressley said.

The I Market will also host 7 gas pumps: six unleaded and one diesel.

“It’ll have three gas pumps on each side plus one diesel pump,” Pressley said.

“We can serve 14 cars at one time. And we’ll also have a four-bay automatic car wash, top of the line,” he added.

Pressley plans on hiring a department manager of the convenience store, along with around six full- and part-time employees.

In total, for the convenience store and supermarket, “We’ll probably be hiring in the neighborhood of 175 people,” he added.

“It’s pretty impressive. We’ll have a 93,000 square foot store,” Pressley said.

“We’ll be the largest store in the chain, and that’s about 200 stores. It’s going to be very nice once they get it done.

“Nobody will have to go to Turkey Creek anymore,” he added.

“The gas station may be open a couple of weeks or a month before” Oct. 11, Pressley said.

According to Pressley, there are several reasons the largest store in the chain is coming to Farragut.

“It’s just grown so much, I guess. We’ve been due a store a long time. You see, Ingles owns that whole shopping center right now, and that’s the reason they were wanting to replace it,” Pressley said.

Pressley said Ingles will retain ownership of the shopping center in which Ingles Market currently is housed, and plans to expand and renovate it.

“We’ll remodel the old shopping center once we’re over there,” he said.
