Mario’s Pizza offers unique menu

Rob Hobeika bought five-year-old Mario’s Pizza and Grill a little more than a year ago.

Hobeika understands the restaurant’s unique combination of “pizza and grill” catches customers’ attention.

“It’s a totally different menu; I mean, totally,” Hobeika said.

“We grill the burgers; we grill the chicken. We have a grill and fryer and pizza,” he added.

But despite the perhaps eclectic menu, the best-selling items are the restaurant’s pizza and calzones.

This customer loyalty is one reason Hobeika does not fear competing with larger chain pizza restaurants.

“We’ve got our clientele and they’ve got theirs … They’ve got the big names, but people in Farragut know us now,” he added.

“They like it very much. We get a lot of response. We don’t advertise that much, and we get just about the same customers coming in, so they must like it,’ he added.

The restaurant also retains competitive pricing, especially in the face of rising gasoline prices.

Mario’s delivers in a range of eight to 10 miles; the gasoline surcharge for each trip is $1.50.

According to Hobeika, this price is at least 50 cents less than other delivery restaurants.

Hobeika said making Mario’s a franchise or chain could be a future goal.

“Maybe one of these days, but right now it’s the only one,” he said.

Mario’s Pizza and Grill is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
