Village Green claims GKAISA ‘City Meet’ crown

Perhaps some of Village Green’s dual meet swimming victories during the regular season weren’t really upsets.

The Gators rolled to the 2008 Greater Knoxville Area Interclub Swim Association “City Meet” championship Sunday, July 27, at The University of Tennessee’s new Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

Village Green amassed 1,536 points, a 179-point win versus No. 2 Green Meadow.

Other notable West Knox County and Farragut teams’ finish included Gettysvue (fourth), Gulfwood (eighth), Sugarwood (ninth), Concord Hills Recreational Association (14th) and Fox Den Country Club (21st).

As for first-place individual/ relay finals wins, Village Green took the 8-Under Girls 100-freestyle relay, 1:11.96, and the 9-10 girls 100-free relay, 1:01.60.
