FHS’s Lee second in AAU decathlon


Max Lee, Farragut High School track and field standout and rising senior (pictured), earned one silver medal in decathlon while competing against some of the best athletes from Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina at the AAU Region 3A championships July 10-11.

With the top four in each event qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics in Detroit, Mich., Lee jumped 20-feet-10 in the long jump, one foot farther than his closest competitor, and won the javelin throw with a toss of 134-feet-1. Competing for Knoxville Track Club, Lee finished only 38 points behind the gold medalist despite beating the winner in seven out of the 10 events.Lee reportedly is interested in walking on to The University of Tennessee’s Track and Field team in 2009-10.
