FHS winless at 7-on-7 nationals

Though Farragut football finished winless for the second straight year at the adidas 7-on-7 National Championships, the trip to Atlanta, Ga., was hardly fruitless.

”It's a great experience, it certainly helped our kids to see that kind of talent, the bunch of athletes we played against, that much speed,” FHS head coach Eddie Courtney said about its five games in Silverback Stadium, an artificial turf profession soccer complex, July 30-31. “Just the trip, made special with adidas, ’cause they did it up right. All first-class. We were just glad to be a part of it again.”

Four of the Ads’ five games, all of 30-minute length, were decided by eight points or less: Mesquite (Texas) 26-13; Concord (Ind.) 27-20; Jupiter Christian (Fla.) 21-13; Richland (Texas) 28-24 and Sacred Heart (Ill.) 20-13.

“Other than the first game, it kinda took us the first game to kinda get situated with the amount of speed that was there,” Courtney said.
