• Concord Park Par 3 Golf Course will host a junior championship Saturday, Aug. 9. This tournament is open to all junior golfers. There will be five divisions for competition: Boys 7 & Under, Boys 8-10, Boys 11 14, Girls 8-10 and Girls 11-14. Junior players may have a caddie. Cost is $15 per player. Tee times will begin at 9 a.m. Call Concord Park Course at 865-966-9103 to register.

• Sign-ups for the fall baseball season for Farragut Baseball, Inc. have begun and will continue through Saturday, Aug. 9. To obtain a form, you can go to Pak Mail, 11803 Kingston Pike (in the Farragut Towne Square Shopping Center) or download the forms by going to (and look under the “handouts” section). Games will begin in late August. The 10-game season will conclude in mid-to-late October.

• Russell Biven Summer Clayfest Tournament is Saturday, Aug. 16, at Birds and Clays, in Washburn. Flight times are 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. All proceeds go to Helen Ross McNabb Center. Registration is $120 per player or $600 per five-person team. Space is limited and registration closes Aug. 14. Lunch will be provided. In addition to awards for top scores are a wobble trap and long bird contest, door prizes and other activities. Spaces are limited. • All funds raised through the inaugural THE MAN RUN for Prostate Cancer Awareness is an event for adults and kids, THE MAN RUN is a 5K run/1-mile fun run/walk, with 5K run set for 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at Tyson Park. • CBFO Volleyball Fall Registration is now open to all girls 3rd-grade through rising high school senior. Cost is $80 per player. • Tennessee Valley Fair once again will host the annual Cheerleading Competition beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Homer Hamilton Theatre at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville. Competition is open to all official squads from elementary, junior and senior high schools. Entry deadline is Aug. 18 and limited to first 35 entries received. • Don Hutcheson, CBFO Softball Commissioner, recently acknowledged the work of three colleagues for their efforts in helping make the 2008 season successful at both fields along Northshore Drive: Jason Wright, field director; Chase West, groundskeeper, and Cathy Hutcheson (Don’s wife), concession stand.

• Farragut High School’s football team played in the adidas 7-on-7 National Championships in Atlanta, Ga., July 30-31. The Admirals were winless at 0-5.
