• Jeanne Wohlford recently joined The University of Tennessee Medical Center as director of cardiovascular and pulmonary services.

• Partners Development recently named Christi W. Branscom, general counsel, as managing broker.

• Le Blanc Financial Group has announced the appointment of Matt Allin as a firm partner. In addition to continuing his client acquisition and fee-based financial planning roles, Allin will now share responsibility in shaping firm policy.

• The Stroke Center at The University of Tennessee Medical Center earned recognition in a recent edition of U.S. News & World Report.

• Dr. David R. Navorska, D.O., has joined the medical staff of Fort Loudoun Medical Center. Navorska received his undergraduate degree in Science of Nutrition from Ohio State University and a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is now accepting new patients.

• Humana Inc. announced it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase PHP Companies, Inc. (Cariten Healthcare) from Knoxville-based Covenant Health for approximately $245 million in cash.

• A few exhibitors’ booths are still available for the 89th Tennessee Valley Fair, Sept. 5-14. Booth spaces are available for lease in the air conditioned Jacob’s Building for as little as $360 for all 10 days of the Fair. Contact Kim Harbin at 865-215-1478 to reserve a booth.

• New executive committee officers and new members were elected at the Knoxville-Knox County Council on Aging meeting. New officers are E.V. Davidson, chairperson; Don Ham, vice-chairperson; Bonnie Callen, secretary, and Mary Catherine Willard, treasurer. Members-at-large are Jack Lee and Shirley Napier.

• Karen Queener, director of human resources and affirmative action at Pellissippi State Technical Community College, has been appointed to the Southern Region’s College and University Professional Association for human resources board of directors. She began her two-year appointment July 1.

• Margie Nichols, currently chief of staff to The University of Tennessee president, will be named interim vice chancellor for communications for the UT Knoxville campus.
