FHS grid broadcast streaming:
Admirals on radio each week at 105.3 FM

If you can’t make it to any Farragut High School football games this season, you have Internet and radio alternatives thanks to WFIV 105.3 FM.

The Horne Radio station begins its third consecutive season as flagship voice of Admirals football, continuing more than a decade of broadcasting FHS games, said Brian Tatum, WFIV General Manager.

Erik Gerhardt, Voice the Admirals both in football and basketball, returns for his third season in the 105.3 booth. Gerhardt is an FHS graduate and former Admiral athlete.

Tatum emphasized that “all games,” including all road games and playoff games, can be found via WFIV access.

That includes online streaming at “Click on the ‘Listen Live’ link,” Tatum said. “Last year we averaged right at 500 people per game listening online.”

A 30-minute pre-game show begins at 7 p.m. during the regular season. “They’ll always be an interview with the coaches, the Farragut coach [Eddie Courtney] and the [opponent’s] coach,” Tatum said. “Starting line-ups, any comments about injuries or potential plays that may be happening in the game or problems we may see in the game.”

The halftime show, sponsored by farragutpress, sister media outlet to WFIV, “Will be a spotlight of everything going on in the region with games, and stats of the previous half,” Tatum said. “And a little bit of a spotlight of the band, depending on time.”

In addition to post-game wrap-ups, a possible post-game interview “depends on what happens and whether or not Courtney is able to get up to the booth,” Tatum said.

As for the broadcast’s popularity, “Erik has parents and kids coming up to him on a regular basis at the games telling them they appreciated it,” the GM said.
