No. 1 Bearden stumbles, FHS 3-1
Two-time defending state champ BHS starts 4-1

Despite a 3-0 loss at Baylor Sept. 3, the two-time defending Class AAA state champion Bearden Lady SoccerDawgs, currently ranked No. 1, swept through its Aug. 28-30 BHS Invitational.

Amy Porter, senior All-state forward, scored four goals in a 6-3 victory against No. 7-ranked Houston Aug. 29.

One day later Porter again led the way offensively, scoring two of her teamís three goals in a 3-1 victory against Father Ryan. Porter also assisted Samantha Turner, sophomore All-state forward, on the other BHS goal.

Assists came from Caroline Gianeselli, Ashley Howarth and Porter.

Turner led the way scoring-wise in a 3-1 win against Christian Academy, Thursday, Aug. 28. Howarth scored the other Lady SoccerDawg goal, with assists coming from Caroline Lutz, Kimble Glover and Turner.

Howarth and Turner also scored against Houston, while assists in that contest came from Howarth, leading with two, along with Gianeselli and Turner.

Porterís three goals and Turnerís three assists got the 2008 season started off right at Johnson City Science Hill Aug. 25, as Bearden outslugged the Lady Hilltoppers 6-1.

Kirsten Bodker, Gianeselli and Turner each scored one goal while Lutz and Porter also assisted.
