13th annual Chamber 5K features 257 participants


A field of 257 runners and walkers filled out the field for the 13th Annual Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce 5K Run, Fun Walk and Pet Parade at Mayor Bob Leonard Park/Watt Road Saturday morning, Sept. 27.

Overall Male Champion was Andy Baksa (14:51), former Farragut High School All-state track/cross country athlete.

Jasmin Keller (19:00) was Overall Female champ

Baksa and Keller each were awarded $50 in cash concealed in green piggy banks.

Stewart Ellington of Farragut was second in Male Overall (14:59).

West Knox Countian John Smartt, age 90, finished the race to scores of applauding runners, event officials and spectators.


Farragut resident Faye Eisenacher, 82, also raced through the finish line to loud applause as champion in Female 70-98 category.

Other champions were: Kate Schulte, Overall Female Masters; Bob Barber, Overall Male Masters; Mary Tankersley, Overall Female Grandmasters; Jody Hinds, Overall Male Grandmasters; Melita Piercy, Female 14-Under; Kyle Jacobs, Male 14-Under; Christina Caughron, Female 15-19; Drew Houser, Male 15-19; Marianne Hitchcox, Female 20-29; Kory Jessen, Male 20-29.

Kimberly Hicks, Female 30-39; Adam Atchley, Male 30-39; Ines Gibson, Female 40-49; Jeff Everett, Male 40-49; Deb Tracrella, Female 50-59; Micol Brittain, Male 50-59; Bob Griffith, Male 60-69; Rog Hollingsworth, Male 70-98; Male miscellaneous, Josh Waddell.

One dollar for every participant ticket sold, $257, went to Young-Williams Animal Center. S. Taylor Slemmer, humane education at the center, received the check from Bettye Sisco, FWKC president/CEO, following the race.
