Ingles to meet Saturday open date

Ingles Market is set to open Saturday, Oct. 11.

The supermarket chain will move operations from its current location in Farragut Towne Center to a 93,000-square-foot building next door.

The store, one of the largest in the six-state grocery chain, will include “everything we currently offer,” Ingles spokesman Ron Freeman said.

“It will have a large, expanded meat and produce area with regular, organic and natural products, a big frozen food area, a deli and a bakery.

“It will have everything we’ve got in it,” Freeman said.

“It will also have a gas station that will go along with it,” including a four-bay car wash, he added.

Freeman said the reason Farragut was chosen as the site for such a large Ingles was “the room there.

“We had purchased that whole shopping center a year or two ago. That gave us the ability to expand the store,” he said.

“It was a great opportunity for us to expand,” he added.

“We really like the Farragut market and all of our stores in Tennessee,” Freeman said.

Ingles is based out of Asheville, N.C.

Store manager Charles “C.D.” Pressley is excited about the store’s opening.

“It’s going to be very nice once they get it done,” Pressley said in a previous interview with farragutpress.

“Nobody will have to go to Turkey Creek anymore,” he added.

Ingles continues to consider options for Farragut Towne Center and for what will replace the grocery’s former space.

“We’re looking at a few things but typically we don’t say much about that until we’ve actually started doing some work on them,” Freeman said.

Ingles has held several job fairs and “will continue that hiring and training process on up until we open and even afterwards,” he added.
