East Tennessee's top anglers are invited to test their fishing skills and compete for some serious prize money next month. Top catch will win a $3,000 grand-prize in the Breath of Life Support Foundation's 1st Annual Bass Fishing Tournament at Tellico Canal Saturday, Oct. 11. The 1 Limit Bait Shop located in Farragut will handle pre-registrations from 4 to 7 p.m., Oct. 10, costing $100 per boat, which includes lunker fee.

Anglers also can register the day of the event beginning at 5 a.m. for $125 per boat. Entire fee is tax deductible. Blast off is at first light and weigh-ins start at 3 p.m. along with a UT tailgate party and cookout. The mission of the Breath of Life Support Foundation, Inc. is to offer hope and encouragement to lung cancer patients and their families by providing financial support to cover needed expenses. Registration forms and additional information are available by contacting Randy White at goldstripetriton@comcast.net, by calling 865-548-3006 or visiting the Web site at www.breathoflifesupport.org.

The University of Tennessee baseball team is hosting a fall skills camp Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Camp open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. For more information contact UT Baseball Office at 865-974-2057 or sparker@utk.edu.

Upcoming outings of Harvey Broome Group, Tennessee Chapter of the Sierra Club: Oct. 11, day hike, Bob's Bald (by way of Beech Gap). Great views. Rated easy to moderate. Driving distance/time 90 miles/two hours. Pre-register with Priscilla Watts at 865-966-4142 or sigmtngirl@earthlink.net. Oct. 25-26. Backpack, Oconaluftee section, GSMNP. Pre-register with Steve Harvey: sharvey86@aol.com or phone 865-271-7227.
